Ahualoa has a very unique climate. It is typically sunny in the morning and foggy or cloudy in the afternoon. Torrential downpours often occur in the winter. Casuarina equisetifolia (iron wood), Psidium cattleianum (strawberry guva), Metrosideros polymorpha (ohia), Acacia menziesii (black wattle), Grevillea robusta (silver oak), Coffea arabica (coffee) and Eucalyptus robusta are the most common trees that grow here. I have collected and photographed the following mushroom here in Ahualoa at elevations between 2000 and 3000 feet.
